  • Repeat Sentence: 15 seconds (3-9 for prompt, 15 to answer).

  • Describe Image: 40 seconds to study and respond.

  • Re-tell Lecture: 90 seconds for prompt, 40 seconds to answer.

  • Summarize Written Text: 10 minutes for a 300-word text.

  • Essay: 20 minutes to write based on a 2-3 sentence prompt.

Reading (29-30 minutes). This section tests your reading comprehension with five tasks:

  • Fill in the Blanks: Read 300 words.

  • Multiple Choice (Multiple Answers): Read a 300-word text.

  • Re-order Paragraphs: Rearrange a 150-word text.

  • Fill in the Blanks (Reading and Writing): Read 300 words.

Listening (30-43 minutes). This section tests listening skills with tasks like:

Exam Band Description

The PTE Total Score reflects your level of English proficiency, categorized as follows :- A score between 86 and 90 indicates an Expert level, demonstrating exceptional language skills. Scores from 79 to 86 denote a Very Good level of proficiency, while a range of 65 to 79 signifies a Good command of English. Those achieving scores of 58 to 65 or 50 to 58 are considered Competent in their language abilities. A score of 43 to 50 falls into the Modest category, showing a basic understanding of English. Finally, scores ranging from 30 to 36 indicate a Limited proficiency level. Understanding these classifications can help you set realistic goals and prepare effectively for the PTE exam.
